When we are packing for our summer holiday suitcase, we often look for two things: airy and breathable. Enter …. linen! We can hardly ignore it, because linen is always on trend given its unique texture, versatility, comfort and durability. So you can create outfits with many advantages. Curious? Then read on!
ALL SEASONS LONG
Not just in summer, but all year round, linen is a good option. Because it is breathable, your outfit will keep you fresher in summer and warmer in winter. Linen also absorbs moisture and dries faster than cotton.
SUSTAINABILITY
Did you know that linen is one of the more sustainable materials you can wear? For instance, it takes less water to grow than cotton and if you take care of it, then it is very long-lasting! Certifications such as GOTS also confirm the entire textile supply chain is verified against certian ecological and social criteria.
INSPO TIME
Linen is very easy to mix and match. So don't hesitate and get started with the fabric of the moment! Need some inspiration? Here are some Fibre Mood pattern ideas:
Danika
A timeless fabric with a timeless garment; a simple jumpsuit without fuss and cute back detail. Danika and woven fabrics like linen go hand in hand for a casual look.
Zita
Looking for a simple little project? Zita will take you from your sewing studio to that sunny terrace in 1, 2, 3.
Peaches & Carry
Linen sets are also a real hit this season. With Peaches and Carry in a matchy linen fabric, you're all set. A cool oversized blouse with comfy trousers, a match made in heaven! Not a fan of oversized? Feel free to make Carry a size smaller.
MAINTENANCE TIPS
Last but not least, here are some maintenance tips for your favourite linen looks:
- Turn your garment inside out;
- Hand wash or machine wash on a delicate programme with a mild detergent (e.g. wool detergent);
- Avoid using fabric softener, bleach or harsh chemicals that can affect the fabric and colours;
- Do not put your garment in the dryer, only air dry it;
- You don’t “have” to iron your linen. Natural creases and wrinkles are inherent and provide a unique look!
- If you do like to iron it, do so at low temperature, use steam, and iron only on the back of the garment.
