5 years and 26 editions: wow, a lot of different patterns and trends have passed the Fibre Mood atelier! But what exactly was the very first Fibre Mood pattern designed? And are those first patterns still on trend? We look back at 5 years of Fibre Mood and delve into trend history with you!
FILIPPA
The very first pattern designed by Fibre Mood was... drum roll... Filippa! Do you remember her? J A breezy shirt dress with voluminous puff sleeves and an oversized cut that you could wear as is, or add a belt to create more shape. We love Filippa comfortably oversized, but you could also size down (one or even two sizes) and still have a fun project to make and wear.
So: a timeless pattern with a trendy twist. And by the way, did you know that timeless is a word that comes back regularly in Fibre Mood vocabulary? Curious about our favourite Tireless Fibre Mood patterns?

A TRIP DOWN TREND LANE
At the start of Fibre Mood, in 2018, we were seeing voluminous sleeves come to the fore. Puff sleeves (like you see in Filippa) were also trendy newcomers. Prairie dresses and maxi dresses also made their appearance, as did voluminous garments with lots of gathers.
Fast forward to 2023. Some of us have waved off prairie dresses for a while, but statement sleeves are still a popular fashion item. While for some it is a thing of the past, others might have just gotten used to them. And so you see: every pattern has its own timing.
But that's just the fun of it, isn't it? We all have our own personal style and there are always options to tap into trends (or not) as you like.
