I'm Annika, also known as @Frau.a.w on Instagram. Not a particularly creative name, I had no idea where my sewing journey would take me!

How long have you been sewing? Why did you start sewing?

I have always had a great interest in fashion and I find it fascinating to see how clothes are made with a sewing machine. About 25 years ago, I took my first sewing course with a friend, but it didn't really live up to my expectations so I stopped there.

By chance, another opportunity presented itself 7 years ago and I spontaneously took it. I then also discovered great blogs and videos on the internet that taught me a lot and quickly brought me closer to my goal of being able to sew not only clothes but also make fashion. So I started my second attempt at sewing very late AND it wasn't actually even meant to be.

Why are you a fan of Fibre Mood?

The patterns are trendy but also versatile. There are often so many beautiful details I haven't discovered before, such as the pleats on the sleeve hem of the Tilly blouse, the standing collar with waterfall effect on the Sky blouse or the gathered side panels on the Quilla top. I often sew with solid-coloured fabrics, which show off these details and give it look a little extra.

On the other hand, the patterns also leave a lot of room for personalisation. I love pattern hacks and the patterns just invite you to do so. For example, I've sewn the Clover trousers several times and always tweaked them a bit. You can make any pattern your own!

In the link parties, you can see that there really is something for everyone and how versatile the patterns are. They are interpreted so differently, truly amazing!

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Inspiration is everywhere! I often see interesting looks on the street or while browsing in shops. Of course, social media also plays a big role in discovering styles that I like. As soon as I see an interesting look, I think about what pattern I can use for it, which has now become an automatic process.

Sometimes it's also a fabric that inspires me or other seamstresses #sewingaddicted!

What do you like best about sewing with Fibre Mood patterns?

A benefit of the patterns is that they are not just made for professionals. I always have an "aha" experience by sewing certain steps and seeing how things come together. I love the technical drawings, which I mainly use to decide whether or not to sew a pattern.

Do you have a favourite pattern from Fibre Mood?

Basically, I don't have a favourite pattern. For me, it depends on the mood of the day and the season, and of course, there are always new ones. One of the first Fibre Mood patterns I sewed was Filippa (shirt dress with puff sleeves). I actually often discover new patterns when I browse through older issues - at second glance, so to speak.

Do you often make adjustments?

Fortunately, I am very disciplined at checking the size chart. So far I have always been able to stick to the sizes I have calculated. Only the length measurements need to be adjusted because of my height.

Do you have another golden tip for sewing beginners?

It is always fun to share your hobby with someone and support each other. Start with a simple project so you quickly get a sense of achievement. Just have fun and dare to do it!

Do you have another sewing project planned with Fibre Mood?

I always decide quite spontaneously what my next project will be. I definitely still have the Adria jacket in mind, but I'm waiting for a suitable fabric to come my way!
