Whether you made your outfit yourself or bought it, everyone knows that blissful feeling of heading out for the first time in brand-new sportswear. It feels like you’ve got an instant energy boost! But then, when the workout is over... and suddenly your outfit looks even more worn out than you do.
No stress! With these tips, you can keep your sportswear fresh and looking as good as new, wash after wash.
5 tips to make your sportswear last longer
1. Wash immediately after your workout
Take off your sports outfit as soon as possible after your workout and pop it in the washing machine. This prevents bacteria from settling deep into the fibres of your clothing and leaving unpleasant odours.
2. Wash at a maximum of 30°C
Higher temperatures can shrink your sports kit and damage the fibres of your outfit.
3. Skip the fabric softener
Fabric softener clogs the fibres of your clothes, making it harder to wash out sweat and bacteria properly.
4. Wash inside out
This removes bacteria more efficiently while protecting the outside of the fabric (and any prints or designs!). Win-win ?
5. Air dry
Tumble dryers are the enemy of nylon and elastane! The heat will cause your sportswear to lose its shape and elasticity.
EXTRA TIP
Struggling with stubborn sweat odours? Add a splash of vinegar to your detergent or soak your clothes in water with added vinegar before washing.
Enjoy your favourite sports fit for longer!
