Grandpa's big old coat
The Hunter mantel, my second coat ever made! It's made in a wonderful blended wool with wooden buttons making it a totally classic piece of clothing, I think. Sewing the welt pockets was most challenging, and unfortunately they turned out completely uneven.. but it was a good practice at least and I will love the coat no less. <3
Some adjustments made: I skipped the pocket on the chest, made the sleeves longer and added some pockets on the lining. Also, because I lined it with a quilted fabric, I used the pattern piece for the outside back also for the back of the lining. Oh and the shoulders are puffy because, honestly, the sleeves didn't fit right, but I do kind of like it this way.
I did not use interfacing because the quilted lining is quite rigid of itself (and also I don't have an iron). However, if I'd make the coat again I would use it especially in the front parts to give it more shape.

Allerlei mantelstoffen komen in aanmerking. Wollen stoffen zijn het meest geschikt. Effen, met een print of ruitmotief.
