Style advice for the Jutta skirt

The Jutta skirt looks lovely at any length, whether knee length, calf length or ankle/floor length. Check out our best tips on how to make the Jutta skirt work for your body shape here!

The Jutta skirt for O-types

The Jutta skirt can be a really beautiful model for O-types, on the condition that it's made the right way. The skirt's A line model makes the wide waist look smaller. Since the goal is to draw attention away from the waist, make the skirt without the ribbon waist tie (it draws attention directly to the waist).

The best combination is the skirt in a subtle print paired with a top in a dark, neutral colour. The top has a pretty neckline that emphasises your neck and face. The subtle print helps make your slenderer lower body stand out first, creating the illusion of a well-balanced silhouette. Show off your ankles or calves by making a knee length or calf length skirt. Click here to find out how!

Choose a fabric with a gentle, fluid drape that isn't too thin: viscose, crepe, jersey, satin, etc.

The Jutta skirt for H-types

The A line model of the skirt and pleats add more volume to your straight figure. The way the waist tie tightens at the waist emphasises your waist too much, so it’s better not to include it. Emphasise your legs more by making the skirt knee length. Go for a neutral colour or a fabric with vertical or diagonal stripes. Geometric shapes are also a nice option. As far as fabric goes, we recommend linen, cotton (poplin), cotton satin or wool. The perfect combo: the skirt with a V-neck top.

The Jutta skirt for X-types

Your body is naturally well-proportioned. Your shoulders and hips are more or less the same width and you have a clear waistline. Choose clothing styles that follow your body's natural curves and highlight your waist as much as possible.

The A line skirt accentuates your waist even more. Pair the skirt with a top that has a lovely neckline. Go for a fabric that gracefully hugs your natural curves but still has some body. For instance, linen, crepe and cotton, etc. are excellent options.

The Jutta skirt for I-types

Your body shape is incredibly slender, but is also super straight and lacks a waistline. The goal of the I-type is to create the illusion of curves. The way the waist tie tightens at the waist (or the broad side pockets) does a good job of this; it give your straight figure more volume.

Nice combo: the skirt with the Josie boxy top! The Jutta skirt also goes especially nicely with a boat neck top with horizontal stripes. That will make the shoulders look wider and the waist narrower.

Good fabric types: cotton, linen, cotton satin, satin, etc. Fabrics that are too flimsy are a no-go because they don't add any structure to your body.

The Jutta skirt for A-types

Your body shape is characterised by a fuller lower body with a proportionately narrower upper body. To even out your figure’s proportions, the aim is to draw attention to the upper body and keep the lower body as plain as possible.

The skirt’s pleats make the bottom of your body less pronounced. For that reason, you should always choose a fabric with a fluid drape that isn’t too stiff.

Make the skirt in a dark shade and pair it with a top in a lighter or more ‘interesting’ colour/print. This combination will balance out your figure a little more. A nice neckline would also do wonders. A boat neck or added details at the shoulders, such as puffed or bishop sleeves, look lovely on you.

Great fabrics: wool, silk, crepe, etc.

The Jutta skirt for 8-types

The Jutta skirt was born for the 8-type. Specifically, it does a wonderful job highlighting the waist. Pair the skirt with a top that has a pretty neckline, for example a V-neck, scooped or cowl neck. Oversized tops are a no-go.

Opt for fabrics with a fluid drape that aren't too stiff: crepe, silk, satin, fine knits, etc.

The fabric should follow your curves. Subtle prints, romantic and curvy designs, water colour or floral prints all look stunning for your body shape. Adjust the size of the patterns based on your height. The taller you are, the bigger the pattern can be.

The Jutta skirt for V-types

V-types have fairly broad shoulders compared to the lower body. The goal for your body shape is to create an illusion that makes your shoulders look narrower. So draw focus away from the shoulders, deflecting it to the lower body instead. The flared shape of the Jutta skirt does that perfectly! What's more, the waist tie, pockets and pleated effect at the waist add volume to your waistline.

Try not to accent the waist too much though. For this reason, you should go for a lightly textured fabric or one with a coarser knit: linen, raw silk, twill, etc.

The skirt fabric will look great in straight, graphic or geometric patterns. For instance, stripes in different widths, abstract patterns, Aztec prints, herringbone, houndstooth, etc. However, the best option for the inverted triangle remains stripes.

Avoid busy, colourful designs. That’s because they detract from your figure’s straight lines.
