The summer of 2019 is coral

According to Pantone the most eye-catching colour of 2019 is lively coral. This blend of orange and pink may not seem so easy to mix and match, but we’ll be happy to give you some tips so that you will be able to shine in this summer’s trending colour: coral.

From the depths of the ocean to the street: coral will make you dream of tropical temperatures in summer. If anything, this trendy colour is lively and conspicuous, so if you are going for a complete look in coral you will certainly stand out in a crowd. How about the long Summer slip dress in bright coral? Or would you rather have a less conspicuous outfit? Create a more understated look with more subdued hues, without making any concessions to coral’s outspoken nature (read: earth tones, white or jeans are a must for mixing and matching).

Want to find out how coral is doing on the catwalk? In March 1950 Voguealready called this colour ‘one to watch’, with creations by the most prominent designers who were ahead of their times with this trend colour: Balenciaga, Schiaparelli and Dior. The fashion world continued to embrace this colour throughout the following decades with even a colour-blocking trend in coral in 2010. Of course, the fact that coral is once again trending was clearly illustrated at the fashion week (aside from Pantone’s announcement). Fashion labels putting coral in the spotlight this season are Marc Jacobs, Prada, Altuzarra and Maxwell’s. One thing is certain: many labels are bound to follow, and coral will be indispensable this season.
