The Paulette top for H-types

H-types have more or less equally wide shoulders and hips. The only thing missing is a clear waistline, so it’s time to learn the art of creating one!

The slanted vertical seams with flounces subtly draw focus to the centre of your body, making your shorter torso look a touch longer. The flounces also add lovely structure to your shoulders, which makes your waist look narrower. The overall result is beautifully balanced proportions.

The flounces lend your straight figure a softer, more feminine feel.
Subtle prints look great on your body shape.

The Paulette top for I-types

You’ve hardly got any curves and no waist to speak of so your figure is begging for curves and more volume.

The slanted seams with flounces create a V-shape across your torso and lead the eye to the centre of your body, making your waist look smaller. Because the flounces add volume to your shoulders they enhance the illusion of a more slender, tapered waist.
They also lend your straight figure a curvier, more feminine feel.

Go for textured fabric or a fabric in a funky pattern or a bold colour for extra schwung. For example, your figure will look especially gorgeous in a Paulette top made with white, slightly stiff fabric, such as poplin.

Pair Paulette with trousers or a skirt that flairs towards the hemline.
Feel free to add pockets or other details to the trousers or skirt.

The Paulette top for O-types

Your body shape could do with a touch more structure around the shoulders. The flounces take care of that perfectly. At the same time, the lovely slanted vertical lines on your torso compensate for your rounder midriff. The V shape created by the flounces helps ‘stretch’ your torso. However, avoid too much volume at the midriff. You can do that by either making the flounces shorter or making them a touch narrower.

Always make Paulette in a fabric with a fluid drape. Leave those stiffer fabrics in the cupboard (no unnecessary padding please).
Add as many vertical lines to your silhouette as possible. The maximise that lengthening effect, make the top in almost the same colour as your trousers or skirt.

For the trousers or skirt, choose either a straight or slightly flared design.

The Paulette top for V-types

V-types have broad shoulders and/or are busty, but their lower body is slender in contrast. Make your silhouette more proportional by softening the upper body and shifting the focus to the lower body. You know where we’re going with this. The flounces accentuate your upper body and shoulders rather unhelpfully.

Make the top in a dark fabric with a matt texture to diminish that effect. Pair with a bottom piece in a light-coloured fabric with a patterned or satiny look. Make sure that the shape of the trousers or skirt flare enough towards the bottom. That will rekindle an illusion of balance – ensuring equal volume at the top and bottom of your silhouette.

You could also consider making the flounces narrower or leave them off altogether; however, the flounces are precisely what lend Paulette its bold personality…

The Paulette top for X- and 8-types

The somewhat fitted cut of the Paulette top is you through and through. The angled seams with flounces in between lead the eye straight to your waist and make it appear even narrower. The added volume at your shoulders enhances that effect.

Go for a fabric with a fluid drape that gracefully hugs your natural curves. A solid fabric or one with a subtle print would look fantastic.

This ultra-feminine design is an absolute must in your wardrobe.
