Style advice for the Suri top

The Suri top for A-types

Have you got an A-shaped silhouette? Then your centre of gravity is on your lower body and your torso is narrower. Draw all the attention to your upper body and soften the bottom half. Always subtly accentuate your waist. The transition from the upper to lower body should be as subtle as possible so that you don’t overemphasise the difference in width proportions.

Have the top stop above the hips so that there’s no focus on the hips. For the same reason, you should make the sleeves 3/4 length or shorter to keep the focus as high as possible.

Go for a fabric with a lovely soft, fluid drape.

Prints: A-types who mainly have angular features should go for a print with straight lines, e.g. stripes, checks, geometric shapes, etc. A-types with curves to spare should go for prints with soft, round shapes, such as dots, polka dots, flowers, watercolour patterns, etc. If your silhouette is a mix of the two, then be sure to include a mix of straight and soft lines in your print. Paisley, certain floral prints, or abstract shapes are all great options.

The perfect combo for A-types: Suri in a light colour paired with wide leg trousers, e.g. Bertha, Babette, or Miyu – or an A-line skirt such as the Alix in a darker shade.

The Suri top for H-types

The top and bottom of your body are nicely proportional. You have a rectangular figure and no waist. H-types are interested in maintaining their body’s balanced proportions. That means whenever volume is added to the upper body, it has to be added to the lower body as well.

The length and cut of the top add more weight to the upper body. Balance that out with an A-line skirt or flared trousers with heavy pockets or other details. A skirt or pair of trousers in a striking print is another way you can ensure a good balance.

Make the Suri somewhat longer so that the focus is below the waist. Your figure’s proportions will thank you for it. Click here to discover an easy way to alter the length.

The Suri looks lovely in a solid fabric, but you also can’t go wrong with a print with linear shapes (checks, stripes, geometric shapes, etc.), textured fabric, or something with an eye-catching detail.

The Suri top for I-types

You have a slender, athletic figure. Your challenge is to break up the ‘pencil’ shape and give your figure more curves.

This top is minimalist to a fault. Get creative with colours, patterns, and fabric textures to add visual interest to the straight lines of your body shape.

Naturally, the top should be paired with trousers or a skirt with a flared cut and/or bonus details (e.g. pockets, flounces, ties, pleats, etc.). Wear a V-neck cardigan over it, or a loose-fitting jacket in quilted fabric, for example. Have fun combining, creating layers, etc. Let those creative juices run wild!

The Suri top for O-types

O-types aim to create as many vertical lines as possible, create interest around their shoulder and face, and detract from their wider midriff.

You look your finest in tops that flow around your body and don’t emphasise the waist. The Suri top, which is slightly cropped, creates an unwanted focus on your waist. Not to worry, though. Just make a longer version of the Suri, or you could even turn it into a knee-length dress.
Select a fabric with sufficient weight and a fluid drape in a sober colour or an understated pattern, and you’re all set!

The horizontal neckline makes your shoulders look wider, perfect for your figure.
Pair the longer Suri top with the Peaches trousers or Pina skirt to grace your silhouette with the ultimate vertical line.
Your top and bottom piece should be in nearly the same colour to create a lengthening effect (monochrome colours).

Complete your look with a pair of gorgeous earrings.
