Style advice for the Alix Skirt

The Alix skirt for A-types

Your body shape is characterised by a lower body that's fuller than the torso. To balance your figure, it's crucial to make your upper body the main focal point. You look lovely in an A-line skirt that drapes gently over your hips.

The vertical lines created by the row of buttons and the pleats make your lower body look lighter by breaking up the single visual surface. The vertical lines create visual 'stretch’, making the lower body appear more slender.

Pair Alix with a boat neck top (Afra) or something with puffed sleeves (Norma or Mabel) to make your shoulders look broader.
The gaze should be primarily kept on your upper body. To do this, go for a short top that stops just above the hips.
The result is a perfectly proportioned silhouette. Maximise this effect for the most flattering outcome by making your Alix skirt in a medium to dark shade and pairing it with a light-coloured top.
Subtly accentuate your waist so that the transition between your upper and lower body is seamless.
A-types with an extra curvy figure should make the Alix skirt in a fabric with a fluid drape. A-types with more angular lines, in contrast, are best off selecting stiffer fabrics that provide additional structure.

The Alix skirt for H-types

H-types have hips and shoulders that are more or less proportionate – your figure is well balanced. Consequently, that means your most important job is to retain that balance. In a nutshell: if you add extra volume to your lower body, do the same for your upper body – and vice versa.

Make the skirt in a fabric with a fluid drape so that the pleats drape gracefully, and the bottom isn’t too full, or mirror the effect with a V-neck top that emphasises your shoulder line (e.g. the Norma top or Alice jumper). By adding volume at the bottom and create a wide straight line at the shoulders, you create a waist, which is a must for every wide rectangle.

Showcase your legs a little by making the skirt knee length. Go for a neutral colour or a fabric with vertical or diagonal stripes. And remember – geometric shapes are totally you!

The Alix skirt for I-types

You have an outspoken slender and ‘pencil’ shaped figure. I-types benefit from creating more body and a clear waistline.
The belt loops on the waistband are the perfect eye catcher in the perfect place, and the pleats add volume right where you need it – at the bottom.

Go for a top that adds volume to the bust and/or shoulder area. For example, wear a top with puffed sleeves, a boat neck or horizontal stripes. Your shoulders will look broader and your waist will look smaller. Your perfect combo? The Alix skirt with the Afra top or, when summer strikes, the Josie boxy top. Mix and match bright colours with vibrant prints, e.g. a floral print skirt with a horizontal striped shirt.

Stay away from thin, flimsy fabrics that lack body. Instead, choose sturdy, stiff fabrics, such as cotton, linen, cotton satin or (heavy) satin.

The Alix skirt for O-types

The perfect skirt for your body shape is a straight or slightly flared skirt. Alix adds a touch too much volume at the waist, which is a shame since the apple’s aim is to distract from the midriff.

Is your heart still set on dazzling in this skirt? Then choose a fabric with a fluid drape (such as viscose, crepe, jersey, or lightweight satin) so that Alix falls nice and straight.
You could also literally add a vertical line to your silhouette by specially highlighting the row of buttons. Omit the belt loops altogether, though, since less is more in the waist area.

When selecting a fabric, choose a delicate print that diffuses focus across the body. Soft, round patterns – flowers for instance – are a lovely option.
Pair the skirt with a top that makes your shoulders or face the star of the show, for example, a V-neck top or details at the shoulders. A pair of earrings or a fetching necklace also create the same effect.

The Alix skirt for V-types

V-types typically have a torso that is broader than the lower body. Your body shape’s goal? Make your shoulders look narrower. That means draw the focus away from the shoulders and deflect it to the lower body instead. The fullness of the Alix skirt does that perfectly!

Select fabric with a subtle texture or a coarser knit, such as linen, raw silk, twill, etc.Make the skirt in fabric with a linear, graphic, or geometric pattern – for instan ce, stripes in varying widths, abstract patterns, Aztec prints, herringbone, houndstooth, etc. However, there’s no denying that V-types look best in stripes. Avoid busy, colourful designs. They detract from your figure’s straight lines.

Tip: create beautiful proportions by wearing the Alix skirt in a pastel or vibrant colour and pair it with a dark top. You should only tuck the top slightly into the skirt at the front. Let the rest gracefully drape over the skirt. That way you’ll create a waistline and create a seamless transition between your upper and lower body.

The Alix skirt for X-types

Your body is naturally well proportioned. Your shoulders and hips are more or less the same widths and you have a clear waistline, which is why you should choose garments that follow your body’s natural curves and highlight your waist as much as possible.

Go for a fabric with a fluid drape that gracefully accents your natural curves.

Combo tip: pair the Alix skirt with a top that makes your shoulders look broader, e.g. the Afra top, with its boat neck and horizontal stripes. The A-line skirt accentuates your waist even more, and the top’s gorgeous neckline gives your outfit the perfect finishing touch.

The Alix skirt for 8-types

The Alix skirt was born for the 8-type. Specifically, it does a wonderful job highlighting the waist. Pair the skirt with a top that has a pretty neckline, for example, a V-neck, scooped, or cowl neck. Steer clear of oversized tops that will only bury all your gorgeous natural curves.

Choose a fabric with a fluid drape that isn’t too stiff, e.g. crepe, silk, satin, fine knits, etc. The fabric should follow your curves. Delicate prints, romantic and flowing, round designs, watercolour, or floral prints all look stunning on your body shape. Base your choice of how big or small the patterns are on your height. The taller you are, the bigger the pattern can be.
